Job Description

Skillcrush is on the hunt for an Administrative Assistant to join our team! This is a full-time, early-career role.

We’re growing fast here at Skillcrush so we need a reliable right hand to handle all the little (but important!) to-dos that keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. As the Administrative Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to complete tasks that help our CEO and members of the Operations team save time, work more efficiently, and focus on their core responsibilities.

As such, you’ll be trusted with lots of sensitive information and will be expected to not only respect confidentiality, but demonstrate superior judgement when it comes to sharing and storing such information.

You’re a great candidate for this job if you truly enjoy “behind-the-scenes” work, love supporting your teammates, and find satisfaction in helping them reach their goals. You’re a master organizer who can keep multiple priorities top of mind, but can easily re-prioritize your to-do list when priorities change on our fast-paced team.

Because you’ll be working across all of our teams, and with people and organizations outside of Skillcrush, you should be an expert communicator who’s firm but diplomatic and understands our “voice”, mission, and way of working.

While we are a tech company that teaches digital skills, a tech background isn’t needed for this position! However, you should be extremely comfortable working with cloud-based tools, such as Google Calendar and project management software (like JIRA), and be excited about learning and training other team members on new tools.


  • Triage our CEO’s email inbox and assist her with routine administrative tasks, like prepping documents for signatures, making travel arrangements, and scheduling calls.
  • Assist our Management team with administrative tasks like itemizing credit card charges, making meeting agendas, and reviewing invoices to make sure they’re in line with budgets and projections.
  • Take point on all administrative tasks for the Operations team, such as preparing and filing new hire paperwork and updating payroll elections.
  • Guide new employees through the benefit enrollment process by explaining benefits, answering questions, and preparing and submitting the necessary paperwork by provided deadlines.
  • Work with our Director of Operations to manage the open enrollment period for our healthcare benefits.
  • Identify challenges in our administrative and operational processes and work with the necessary stakeholders to deliver solutions quickly.

Skill Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — ability to break down complex concepts and clearly explain them internally and externally.
  • Extremely comfortable working with G-Suite apps like Docs and Sheets — You have opinions on inbox organization and know your way around spreadsheet formulas.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Extremely sound judgment, especially when it comes to handling sensitive information.
  • An enjoyment of working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A love of both routines and surprises — every day will be filled with both!
  • Interest in learning more about HR and employee benefits.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new tools and technologies. You’ll often be the one regularly testing new tools and training the team on how to use them.
  • Professional references from at least one supervisor and one peer that are able to speak freely about your work.
  • Availability to regularly work hours that overlap with standard business hours (9am-5pm) in U.S. Eastern time.
  • Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection.


  • Background working as an administrative or executive assistant
  • Background working on an HR/People Ops team
  • Familiarity with Agile, scrum, or Kanban frameworks
  • Experience working remotely with team members in different time zones
