Commercial Manager - Supply Chain

Job Description

The Commercial Manager - Supply Chain is responsible for the commercial aspects of supplier management with Calix’s manufacturing partners. He/she will lead the processes associated with the business terms of supplier contracts, including purchased price variance (PPV), excess and obsolete (E&O), and other activities where monthly reporting, validation, and negotiation are needed. This position reports to the Sr. Global Supply Chain Manager.


  • Track supplier inventory levels and projected Excess and Obsolete material liability. Forecast monthly exposure to management. Aggressively drive mitigation actions with suppliers and internally to reduce or eliminate liability for Calix. Manage and report inventory carrying costs with suppliers per contract terms.
  • Manage a robust PPV process with each supplier. This includes monthly reporting, tracking, coordination with commodity management, negotiation, settlement, and PO generation to the supplier.
  • Produce and manage monthly reporting requirements with suppliers and Calix management.
  • Set and achieve performance goals/metrics to improve overall OCOGS improvement and lower inventory exposure.
  • Drive Business Process Improvement initiatives both internally and externally with key suppliers to continuously improve organizational processes and tools.
  • Participate in quarterly business reviews
  • Understand and execute commercial terms per MSA (master services agreements) with suppliers.
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering, commodity management both at the supplier and within Calix.
  • Be recognized as global subject matter expert by business partners and a valued member of the team.

Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years’ work experience with commercial management of EMS and ODM partners
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Track record of influencing a driving impact with diverse set of functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent Microsoft excel skills, familiar with Agile.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of MRP.
  • Experience managing PCBA and mechanical assembly commodities.
  • Thorough price/cost analysis skills and first-rate financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively in a global work environment.
  • Excellent cross-functional team member skills with both internal and external resources.
  • Ability to define and implement new processes and procedures.
