Job Description

Lee Enterprises is hiring for a Sales Development Specialist. This position has the option to work remotely so it can be based anywhere in the U.S. The main duties of this position will be to uncover new business opportunities through market research and product analysis. This role will also create compelling sales materials and presentations that grow current and generate new business. Finally, the Sales Development Specialist will analyze advertiser’s marketing programs and rates to support strong contract negotiations and drive decision making with Static Key accounts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops national sales collateral, sales proposals, presentations, and collects research that position Lee Enterprises as the #1 vehicle to reach audiences across all of their markets.
  • Analyzes research to drive compelling sales proposals
  • Positions the audiences that we reach against other media competition.
  • Collaborates with Creatives, to execute strategic presentations.
  • Track competition and identifies account and category opportunities
  • Through analysis, develops sales leads used to drive large new business wins and grow existing budgets.
  • Generates distribution analysis that demonstrates optimal buys for preprint advertisers
  • Analyzes financial data and rates to inform contract negotiations and to drive strong business decisions.

Skill Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing analytics, with proven experience producing actionable analysis that is presented to management
  • Experience in data mining, analytics, reporting and optimization related to financial history, rate, in BI platforms like Sisense, Qlikview or Domo
  • Experience working with marketing research platforms like Scaborough, Media Audit, experience Atlas or Arcview GIS preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with key stakeholders, internally and externally.


  • Superb oral, written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with multiple analytic and database tools common within a marketing organization (Salesforce, Hubspot, Domo, etc.)
  • Proven track record of logical problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient in the use of a PC or Mac; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel to include graphs, pivot tables, complex formulas


  • Ability to develop marketing and sales presentations for sales
  • Ability to analyze market data and distill into actionable format
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve problems
  • Ability to use PC and Office Suite in addition to other related programs. GIS system experience preferred.
